Lightning & Fog Policy

ADVERSE WEATHER (FOG &LIGHTNING )PURSUANT TO CLUB RULE 18 (g):

Lightning

Should lightning be evident whilst playing golf,all golfers MUST cease playing with immediate effect (Rules of Golf 6-8 a ii )

Whitstable & Seasalter Golf Club (The Club) will endeavour to make the following warning, to alert members and visitors of the suspension of play:

TWO LONG BLASTS OF THE KLAXON FROM THE PATIO FACING THE 9TH/18th GREEN

Players should immediately leave the course, but remember the following:

  • Avoid high ground and keep as low down as possible
  • Unless in emergency, do not use mobile telephones – switch them off
  • Do not raise an umbrella or club – they act as lightning conductors
  • Do not shelter under trees

 

Fog & Mist

With regard to fog or heavy mist, players must use their own judgement, to ensure the safety of both themselves and other players. If fog or heavy mist descends, then the Club will endeavour to make the following warning, to alert players of the suspension of play:

TWO LONG BLASTS OF THE KLAXON FROM THE PATIO FACING THE 9TH/18th GREEN

Players should immediately leave the course.

If fog or heavy mist is in evidence before the start of play, then, if the multi-coloured pole sited in the dyke to the left of the first fairway cannot be seen, play should not commence. Neither should play commence, or continue, if fog or mist obscures the furthest point to which a player may expect his ball to travel.

All golfers are reminded of the necessity of having adequate insurance whilst playing golf. The Club shall not be liable for damages and injuries that occur whilst playing the course.
